The "Splyter", so-named for its ability to seperate itself at the torso from its lower extremeties. Like a wet napkin twisted until it finally snaps. Why? Why not. This is a warrior class Splyter; part of an alien race I have given little time to discover.

This is pure Photoshop? Are you sure you're stagnating? What exactly is this? Answer the second question.
I like the colors. I like the textures. I like the character. I like the surreal feeling. I am not too keen on this composition. It is really really tight and important lines are going in all kinds of directions and highlights are just sort of spattered all over the place. I'm not really sure what to give you as a suggestion for a good alternative though. If you meant to try to maximize the feeling of tension in the image then this is not that bad a thing.
To have come from a "doodle".. it is a hell of a concept.
